Licensed Practical Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities:
A licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing basic care to patients. . They maintain and monitor patient health, perform wound care, update patient records, take vital signs and assist patients with personal hygiene. They also help patients with multitude of health care settings.

Education:
To become a Licensed Practical Nurse you have to first complete the state approved training program. These programs usually last about a year and result in getting a diploma. In the program you will have to learn basic nursing,Medical terminology, infection control, lifespan healthcare, and Pharmacology. Then you must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. The exam requires a 200 dollar fee. After you are done with the exam you will receive the LPN licensure and are eligible to practice in the profession.

Salary: The median Salary for a Licensed Practical Nurse is about 43,170 dollars.

Demand for this Profession:
The projected job growth for this profession is about 16% between 2014-2024.

Reflection: In my opinion i would like to be in this profession because not only is it in a medical field but also because i want to help people and the world. I can do that by becoming a Doctor or even A Licensed Practical Nurse. It is a very interesting profession that im might look into further on my own. I’ve always wanted to help others as an act of kindness.
